Light+Building 2014 presents solutions for tomorrow’s buildings Light+Building, the World’s Leading Trade Fair for Architecture and Technology, will next open its doors in Frankfurt am Main from 30 March to 4 April 2014 when around 2,300 exhibitors present their latest products and innovations for the fields of lighting, electrical engineering, house and building automation and software for the building industry. Under the motto ‘The best energy is energy that is not consumed’, the industry will present technologies that reduce a building’s energy consumption at the same time as increasing efficiency and comfort. With the rapid development of renewable energies and efficient resource usage, buildings have become more than just energy consumers. They produce, store, generate and utilise energy and are, therefore, an important part of the intelligent electricity network. At Light+Building 2014, international manufacturers will show solutions designed to meet these new challenges. The biggest platform for lighting The spectrum of lighting products at Light+Building occupies Hall 1 to 6 and 10, and ranges from technical, design-oriented luminaires, via decorative lighting and outdoor and street lighting, to lamps. The leading international trade fair presents an extensive assortment and spotlights energy-efficient systems that are also unbounded in terms of design. One of the focal points is LED illuminants. In this segment, manufacturers present innovations meeting the highest standards in terms of sustainability and longevity, as well as luminous efficiency and colour. Additionally, trade visitors can find out about the latest developments in the field of OLEDs, the unique aesthetic qualities of which open up completely new areas of application on walls or wallpaper and in furniture and fabrics. This technology gives lighting designers in particular a previously undreamt of degree of creative freedom. The latest interior-design trends are to be seen in the Trend Forum, which is aimed especially at architects, interior architects and the lighting retailers. Another focal point of Light+Building is the effect light has on people. Today, when designing their products, manufacturers are paying increasing attention to the impact of luminous colour and light intensity on human performance and well-being. With a wide variety of large-scale lighting installations created by artists, lighting designers and planners and employing the latest technologies, Luminale, the biennale of lighting, takes the Light+Building theme from the Exhibition Centre to the heart of Frankfurt am Main.
